About The IDF
Medicine has undergone dramatic changes over the last thirty years, with technical advances and innovations that challenge all of us practising medicine. We have to deal with cumbersome, evolving regulation, adversely influenced by very serious NHS failures, such as Bristol and Shipman. Nevertheless, looking after our fellow human being's medical needs is still one of the most rewarding professions, and we aim to keep it that way. We will help make regulation more sensible and practical, working with the Healthcare Commission and the GMC to achieve this; informative, educational meetings will continue to be provided on a regular basis, and we will increase the number of social events, so that you can share your experiences and enjoy each other's company. I hope that you will support the IDF in ensuring practising medicine in the independent sector is both a challenging and rewarding experience, providing the best possible care available to our patients.
